Security for financial firms and the people who lead them.
Branch and office posts, protection for finance leaders and their families, and discreet support when an internal matter turns sensitive.
Security for financial firms protects banks and branches, wealth-management and advisory offices, trading and investment firms, and family offices: posted officers for lobbies, executive protection for leaders and their families, and discreet support for terminations and internal investigations. TB Defense delivers it from Chicago, locally, nationally, and internationally, with armed or unarmed coverage matched to each site.
What does a security officer do at a bank branch?
A branch post is about a calm, visible presence: greeting people, noticing behavior that does not fit, and settling an upset customer before a dispute over an account becomes a scene. The officer works inside the bank's own procedures for opening, closing, alarms, and robbery response. Advisory and wealth offices usually want something quieter, often a business-attire presence at reception that clients barely register.
Why do finance leaders need protection?
Proxy statements, deal announcements, layoffs, and market losses put the names of finance leaders in front of people who may hold a grievance: an investor who lost money, a former employee, or someone who fixates on the firm online. Protective intelligence watches for that attention. When it warrants a response, executive protection and secure transportation cover the leader, and residential coverage can extend to the family.
Separations and internal matters
A termination at a financial firm can involve system access, client books, and deferred compensation, which raises the stakes on the day itself. We provide a security presence for the meeting and the exit, and monitoring afterward if concerning behavior follows. Suspected misconduct, leaks, and questions about a prospective partner or counterparty call for investigative work: internal inquiries, due diligence, and background research, usually directed through counsel. TB Defense’s leadership includes career Chicago Police detectives with deep investigative experience.
Client events and investor meetings
Annual meetings, investor days, client dinners, and conferences put leaders, clients, and guests in one room, sometimes with a guest list the firm does not fully control. Coverage focuses on credential checks at the door, quiet presence in the room, and arrivals and departures for the people most likely to draw attention.
Family offices
For a family office, the principal and the family are the whole mission. The work tends to combine residential security, travel and movement planning, event coverage, and protective intelligence on the family's public exposure, built around the family's routines rather than an office schedule.
A tax question for your advisor
When a firm pays for protection for an executive, the cost is often treated as a business expense. In some cases the value of that protection can also be kept out of the executive's taxable income. Federal rules on working condition fringe benefits (26 CFR 1.132-5(m)) look for a specific, business-related safety concern, an overall security program, and an independent security study that recommends the protection. A security risk assessment is often where that documentation starts.
Whether any of this applies depends on your firm and the executive's situation, so raise it with your tax advisor. This is general information, not tax advice.
Starting the conversation
Our work in the sector includes protection for CEOs and other senior executives, and our clients include executives and founders, international companies, insurers, and law firms. Every engagement starts with a conversation about what prompted the call and who inside the organization needs to be involved. From there we recommend coverage that fits the situation and adjust it as the situation changes. We treat these conversations as confidential.

Common questions
Can your officers work within our branch's existing security procedures?
Yes. Officers work within the procedures the firm already has for opening, closing, alarms, cash handling, and robbery response, and they coordinate with building management and any in-house security team. The officer supports those procedures rather than replacing them.
Do you protect a finance executive's family, not just the executive?
Yes. Attention on a leader can extend to the home and family, so coverage may include residential security, family movements, or protective intelligence monitoring of the family's public exposure. The scope is set with the principal or the family office.
How do you keep an internal investigation confidential?
Investigative work is usually scoped with the general counsel or outside counsel, who direct it and decide who receives findings. We keep the circle of people who know about the matter small and report only to the people designated at the start.
Can you cover investor meetings, roadshows, or client events outside Chicago?
Yes. Chicago is our home base, and we cover meetings, events, and executive travel locally, nationally, and internationally.
Is armed coverage available for a branch or an executive?
Armed coverage is available where the assignment calls for it, staffed by personnel holding state security licensing or federal LEOSA qualification, as applicable. Many branch and lobby posts are unarmed by design. The right choice depends on the site, the concern, and the firm's own policies.
Can you provide security for a family office?
Yes. For a family office, the principal and the family are the whole mission. Coverage usually combines residential security, travel and movement planning, event coverage, and protective intelligence on the family's public exposure, built around the family's routines and delivered from Chicago locally, nationally, and internationally.
