Traveling details

A traveling detail goes with the principal. The agents who know the principal’s routine, preferences, and family stay with them through airports, hotels, meetings, and the drive in between, which keeps the detail consistent from the first stop to the last.

Departures and arrivals are planned in advance at a general level: where the vehicle meets the principal, how bags and traveling staff are handled, and the route to the first stop. Commercial terminals and private aviation facilities each set their own rules, and the plan works within them. For the principal’s day-to-day coverage, see executive protection. Multi-city itineraries

A trip with several stops is planned stop by stop. Each hotel, office, venue, and restaurant gets its own advance, and the movements between them are planned as part of one schedule rather than worked out on the day. Long days are staffed in shifts, with incoming agents briefed on what happened earlier and what comes next.

Itineraries change. A meeting moves, a dinner is added, a flight is delayed. We stay in contact with the executive assistant, chief of staff, or family office throughout, and new stops are advanced before the principal arrives when time allows. Advance work in unfamiliar cities

Most of what keeps a detail running smoothly is worked out before the principal arrives, and that matters more in a city nobody on the team works in every week. The advance covers which entrance is used, where the vehicle stops, where the principal waits if something runs late, the nearest appropriate medical care, and who at each venue is the contact.

Some of that is done on site and some through research and calls ahead of time, depending on the trip. Anything that cannot be confirmed in advance is flagged rather than assumed.

Working with trusted local partners

Some assignments need people on the ground who know the location, hold the local credentials, or can provide capability a traveling team does not bring. Where that is the case, we coordinate with vetted local providers. Roles, communication, and who leads the detail are agreed before the principal arrives, and TB Defense stays the point of contact for the client.

Rules vary by location, including on armed coverage, and we confirm the plan for each place before travel is booked.

Events and productions away from Chicago

Conferences, company gatherings, private events, and productions do not always happen near home. Coverage for an event or shoot elsewhere is planned with the organizer or production team, the venue’s own security, and any local partners, so everyone knows their role before doors open or cameras roll. Ground transportation

Movement is where a detail is most exposed, and it is planned for every leg of the trip. Vehicles and security drivers can be arranged through secure transportation, whether that is a single airport transfer or a full itinerary of moves between hotels, offices, and venues.

Residences and sites elsewhere

A second home, a seasonal residence, a rented property for a long stay, or a company site in another state can each need coverage of its own. Residential and site coverage away from Chicago is scoped the same way as it is at home, with an assessment of the property, the people who use it, and how it is accessed.

Public officials and dignitaries

International travel

International trips take longer to plan. Local conditions, the rules on private security, communications, medical options, and the practical details of moving through another country all shape what the detail looks like. We plan early, coordinate with local partners where the assignment calls for it, and confirm the plan for each destination before you travel.
