Who hires wedding security?

Couples, families, and wedding planners arranging a wedding or another private celebration: milestone birthdays, anniversaries, engagement parties, and religious and cultural celebrations such as bar and bat mitzvahs and quinceañeras. Planners often reach out on a client’s behalf, and we work within the planner’s timeline and process.

What does wedding security look like on the day?

Staff arrive early enough to walk the space with the venue’s contact and settle into position before guests arrive. They move with the run of show, stay near entrances and at the edges of the room, and step in only when something needs attention. Most guests should never notice them.

Discretion and appearance

How security looks is agreed in advance. For most weddings that means suits or formal attire that fits the dress code; a backyard party or daytime celebration may call for something less formal. Staff keep a low profile: positioned near entrances and at the edges of the room, not hovering over the dance floor or turning up in the photographs. Working with your planner and venue

Your planner runs the day, and security works inside that plan. We work from the planner’s run of show and timeline, know when vendors load in and out, and adjust as the schedule moves. With the venue, we confirm house rules, which entrances are in use, where staff can be positioned, and how our team works alongside any venue security. Before the day starts, your planner, the venue’s event manager, and our lead on site know how to reach one another.

Guest access and uninvited guests

Where you want it, staff check arriving guests against the guest list, working with the planner or a family member who knows the guests by sight. Anyone not on the list is treated courteously and asked to wait while someone from the family or planning team is consulted. For high-profile families, staff can help keep uninvited press and photographers away from entrances and private areas, within what the venue and the law allow.

Gifts, cards, and valuables

The gift and card table is one of the most common reasons couples ask about security. Staff can watch the table through the reception, move cards and gifts to a room or vehicle you choose at the end of the night, and cover a gift room or hotel suite overnight where needed. Jewelry, heirlooms, and anything else that needs watching can be added to the plan.

High-profile guests and families

When a guest or family member has a public profile, the plan can include close protection for that person alongside the wider coverage: planned arrivals and departures, a quiet way in and out, and an agent who stays with them through the day. Family sensitivities, handled quietly

Weddings sometimes come with family situations: a relative who should not attend, a strained relationship, or someone who may arrive without an invitation. We handle these on the family’s instructions, agreed before the day, and calmly. Staff can recognize the person from a photo you provide, politely decline their entry to the private event on the host’s behalf where the venue allows, and involve the family or planner as you have asked. Staff do not enforce court orders; when a legal matter comes up, the police are called.

Clear roles on the day

Security supports the people already running your day. The venue runs the building, its staff, its own security, and alcohol service. Your planner runs the timeline, vendors, and guest logistics, and ushers and family greet and seat guests. Our staff handle entry and the guest list where requested, gifts and valuables, family instructions, and anything that needs calm, discreet attention. They de-escalate and decline entry on the host’s or venue’s behalf, help quietly when a guest has had too much to drink, and call 911 when police or emergency medical services are needed, since police powers stay with the police.

Armed or unarmed

This is decided during scoping. Unarmed staff are typical for private celebrations, and armed coverage is available when the assessment calls for it and the venue allows it. More on armed and unarmed security.

How an engagement works

Every engagement starts with a conversation about the day and what you need, with you, your planner, or both. From there we scope the coverage around your run of show and venues, staff it, and stay in contact throughout.

What changes the cost

Every proposal is built around your celebration. It reflects:

• Hours of coverage, from setup to the end of the night
• The number of staff, including a lead
• The number of venues and travel between them
• Attire requirements
• Armed or unarmed coverage (unarmed is typical for private celebrations)
• Time for a venue walkthrough in advance
• Overnight coverage for a gift room or hotel suite
• Transportation, if a driver and vehicle are part of the day
• Short-notice requests

What to have ready for the first conversation

• The date, and each venue with its address
• An approximate guest count and a rough timeline or run of show
• Your planner’s name and contact details, if you have one
• Any security requirements from the venue, hotel, or insurer
• What prompted the call: gifts, a guest’s profile, a family situation, or several locations
• The attire you have in mind and how visible you want security to be
• Whether transportation or overnight coverage may be needed
