Security for visiting foreign officials and delegations.
Protection, secure ground movement, and event coverage for foreign officials, delegations, and international visitors in Chicago and across the United States.
TB Defense provides protection for foreign officials, delegations, and international visitors in Chicago and across the United States: secure ground movement, protective agents, hotel and venue coordination, and event security around the visit. Where a delegation travels with its own security or a U.S. government detail, we support that team on the ground. Where it does not, we provide the protection. The firm is led by a 20-year Chicago Police officer whose career includes protective intelligence and threat assessment for public officials.
What protection for a visit includes
- Airport and private aviation arrivals and departures
- Secure ground transportation with security drivers and planned routes
- Armed or unarmed protective agents, under state security licensing or federal LEOSA qualification, as applicable
- Hotel, venue, and meeting coordination, including access control
- Local support for a delegation's own security team
- Security for receptions, speeches, and trade and business programs, planned as event security
- Coordination with venue security, consular staff, and local law enforcement
Who we work with
Consulates and missions arranging a visit, and delegations whose own security team needs local support. Universities, councils, trade organizations, and companies hosting a foreign official or business leader as a speaker or guest. And private visitors who travel without government protection: former officials, members of royal families, and foreign business leaders and their families.
Working alongside official protection
Some visiting officials are protected by the U.S. government during a visit, and many delegations bring their own security. Private agents supplement official protection. They never supplant it. Where an official detail is present, it leads and we support it. TB Defense is a private licensed firm with no governmental authority and no affiliation with any agency.
Armed coverage for a visiting team
A delegation's own security officers often cannot carry firearms in the United States, so the visiting team may rely on local armed coverage for the length of the stay. Our armed agents carry under state security licensing or federal LEOSA qualification, as applicable, and work to the visiting team's plan.
Protocol and discretion
A state or official visit runs on protocol: arrival order, precedence, and the expectations of the visiting party's own staff. We plan around it with consular and protocol staff, and we keep a low profile at receptions and meetings. We do not name the people we protect, before a visit or after it. Schedules, routes, and guest lists stay with the people who need them.
Visits that start in Chicago and travel on
Many visits are multi-city: a consular program in Chicago, meetings in another state, a stop at a university or a plant. Our national and international coverage travels with the principal, so the same team can carry a visit from arrival to departure.
Common questions
Who protects foreign officials visiting the United States?
It depends on rank. The U.S. Secret Service protects visiting heads of state and government, and the State Department's Diplomatic Security Service protects certain other foreign officials. Many delegations also bring their own security. Private firms such as TB Defense protect visitors outside government coverage and support delegations and their hosts on the ground.
Can a consulate or delegation hire private security in Chicago?
Yes. Consulates, missions, and delegations engage licensed private firms for secure ground movement, protective agents, hotel and venue coordination, and event security around a visit. Where an official protective detail is assigned, it leads and we support it.
Can a delegation's own security officers carry firearms in the United States?
Often not, unless specific federal authorization applies, so many delegations rely on local armed coverage. Your own officials can confirm the rules for your team. TB Defense's armed agents carry under state security licensing or federal LEOSA qualification, as applicable.
Do you protect foreign business leaders and their families?
Yes. Foreign executives, investors, and their families visiting the United States usually travel without government protection, and we cover them the way we cover any executive protection principal: at the airport, on the road, at the hotel, and at meetings and events.
Do you cover visits outside Chicago?
Yes. TB Defense is based in Chicago and protects visiting officials and delegations across the United States, including multi-city visits that start or end here.
